Stephen Richter. Executive Director of the newly formed Institute of Agriculture, Natural Resources, and the Environment & Director of the Division of Natural Areas. Stephen is interested in ecology, natural history, and conservation biology of herpetofauna, primarily amphibians, and his courses, outreach, and research primarily focus on these areas. His research focuses on processes that affect the distribution and abundance of animals at the local and landscape scale and most have applied goals of producing recommendations for land planners and wildlife managers. Primary responsibilities in the Division of Natural areas include land management, preservation, and facilitation of research and education at our four field stations and collaborating with state, federal, and non-governmental organizations. Danielle Buchanan. MS Biology student. Dani joined the lab in fall 2022 after graduating with a B.S. in Ecology, Evolutionary, and Environmental Biology from Appalachian State University. She previously worked with Dr. Jon Davenport to look at wood frog larval response to variable hydroperiods. Her thesis research will investigate spotted salamander response to natural vs. constructed wetland ponds. Email Dani.

Jemima Chong. MS Biology student. Jemima joined the lab in fall 2022 after graduating with a B.S. in Recreation and Park Administration from Eastern Kentucky University. Jesse Trost. BS Biology student. Jesse joined the lab in Fall (2020) and has assisted with multiple projects. Currently he is working on a project with the Tri-university Success Program on the effects of aquatic vegetation on nitrate levels in streams during base flow conditions. His interests are in stream and wetland ecology, including wetland conservation and stream restoration. Email Jesse. |
